Catholic ceremonies.... outside?

SO.... so far I have seen photos of two different catholic wedding ceremonies performed outside of a church. The first is in one of my books full of ridiculously expensive weddings, apparently the father of the bride is a big-time business man in Mexico and got the archbishop of Mexico to perform the ceremony on the beach. That's so unheard of, plus its not allowed. I guess money talks right? The second was found in a Philippines destination wedding album from photographer: Gene Higa. The ceremony is set near a mountainside, its definitely an outdoor ceremony and that is definitely a catholic priest.

No fair.

I know I talk about avoiding the church and whatever, but if church law is LAW its not fair that I can't have a catholic ceremony outside, but people with big money can.

EHH. I guess its another thing to list of grievances with the catholic church. Its ok though, because ONE DAY... Jeff and I are going to get married here:

St. Dominic's in SF, architecturally stunning--for a big anniversary we'll say "I do" in a church. But for now, while we're in paradise, we're going to utilize the surroundings.
